Last week, StatsCan issued its first 2015 yield and production estimate. The yield was set at 20.9 bu/acre, lower than last year and the 5-year average, both at 22.2 bu/acre. The crop was estimated at 884,000 tonnes, up from 847,000 tonnes last year and the largest crop since 2009/10. If the actual crop is close to this first estimate, it will result in comfortable 2015/16 supplies.
