Flax Council of Canada seeking new memberships
SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN – May 11, 2021. The Flax Council of Canada (FCC) has developed a new business plan focused on market access activities and is encouraging new memberships.
“We see the potential for the growth in demand by consumers, livestock, and industrial sectors for flax,” says Erwin Hanley, Chair of FCC. “Canada and the world are thinking about food supply and food security with even greater scrutiny today. We are working to increase memberships and take advantage of the growing demand for flax for the benefit of the entire flax value chain.”
The call for new memberships will support the resources needed to carry out the activities of the reinvigorated FCC while including companies that may not have considered memberships in the past.
The FCC will support its members and the industry by working on market access issues that have and are creating barriers to trade. Work on trade barriers that exist from regulations and others will be supported through market development and research. Removing trade barriers often requires education of government officials and consumers. Using the FCC toolbox and building on what exists will help to maintain, restore, and grow the market for Canadian flax.
