The Flax Council of Canada (FCC) is an industry association representing all sectors of the value chain in promoting the growth and development of the flaxseed industry in Canada and abroad.
A key component of this growth is working in harmony with the Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission and the Manitoba Flax Growers Association to develop agronomic programs to advance flaxseed production in Canada.
Agronomist Flaxseed
Duties:
The Agronomist for Flaxseed will lead and execute the agronomic strategy which includes overseeing and managing various agronomic extension activities across the Prairies. This would include working with Provincial Extension Agrologists, Company Agronomists Scientists and Plant Breeders to coordinate a comprehensive framework in developing and implementing best management practices for the benefit of growers. The Agronomist will also play an important role in planning and executing future agronomic strategies working closely with the FCC and producer groups to assist in this process. Travel is required.
Qualifications:
The candidate should have a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or a Master of Science in Agriculture (agronomy or crop science) with previous work experience required. Membership as a Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.) status is required and a Certified Crop Advisor (C.C.A.) status is preferred. Effective communication skills will be a required asset in dealing with stakeholders and media. The candidate must have the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision combined with developed organizational skills to manage programs and meet objectives. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and smartphone technology would be required along with a valid driver’s license.
