Earlier estimates of 2015 flax production in the Black Sea region were large, but the latest numbers show a sharp jump, especially for Kazakhstan. The 2015 crop is there was estimated at 491,000 tonnes, nearly double the previous year. In Russia, the crop increased 43% to 550,000 tonnes. The total for the region is now estimated at 1.09 million tonnes, more than in Canada.
