Flax bids across western Canada rose sharply last week, gaining $0.50-1.50 per bushel after a long period of relatively little movement. The main driver of this increase is an unexpected boost in export demand, particularly to western Europe, with strong demand also from China. The smaller 2016 Canadian crop is the other part of the picture.
